Here’s an awesome aerial ski video of Frank Bare back in 1983. First, the ski video shows him and his bodies putting the finishing touches on the ramp in the backountry. you Frank Bare is an amazing aerial skiing and does one of the craziest aerial ski tricks, a quadruple backflip. That is four full backflips, which involves triple twisting!
Here is a video of a crazy ski jumping accident that happened at a World Cup Event in Zakopane, Poland held in January 2007.
There were strong, variable winds causing problems for the ski jumpers. In this ski jumping video, Jav Mazoch, one of the competiors, seems to be doing fine after taking off from the ski ramp. Then, a fluke air pocket causes him to lose lift and he takes a terrible fall.
He ended up being in a coma and had some brain injuries but has since recovered and has resumed ski jumping.
Here’s a funny ski jumping video of a hilarious accident. The skier jumps of a 2m high ramp in the backcountry trying to land on a landing that’s higher than the jump. He fails to clear the gap, mistaking the speed required to clear it, and crashes into the wall of snow head first! This video is legendary.
Corbet’s Couloir is the most famous and hardest run at Jackson Hole in Wyoming. It is one of the few slopes to have its own wikipedia article! Here are some highlights:
“Currently rated #4 on the top fifty things for skiers to do before they die, it holds an international reputation among expert skiers, and has been described as “America’s scariest ski slope”
“Entrance into the couloir requires dropping off a cornice with a free fall ranging from 10 to 30 feet (9.1 m) depending upon snow conditions, landing on a 60 plus degree slope.”
So it’s pretty hard. In this ski video, we see the guy skiing up to the ski run, past a big “CLOSED” sign. They chill up at the top and watch a guy ski down it nicely. The camera man’s friend then jumps in, doesn’t look too good. We are then informed that he “yard saled” and see him collecting his equipment. Ends up he has an ACL injury, that sucks. Awesome run though!
Crazy skiers dropping 200+ feet on skis. Check out the 2nd one, he almost hits a huge rock at the bottom, must be inches away from it! The mini avalanches he creates while getting speed for the jump are pretty cool. The highest is 245 feet. I can’t imagine what goes through their minds as they jump…
If you are wondering why they are landing upside down but slightly on their backs after the cliff drops it’s because the force of the landing will probably break their legs.
Here’s the name and height of each crazy high cliff jump:
- Titus Engelborg ski jumps off a 210 foot high clif
- Leo Brayman sk jumps off a 230 foot high cliff
- Jamie Pierre ski jumps off a 245 foot high cliff
In this extreme skiing video we get to watch professional skiers Szczepan Karpiel, Pepe Kalensky, Tomek Paździor, Marek Doniec, Staszek Karpiel, Robin Holub, Martin Horak, and others doing some crazy ski tricks in the park on the Hintertux Glacier in the Austrian Alps. The tricks are all executed perfectly and include front flips, back flips, inversions, 1080s, grabs, and many combinations of ski tricks.
The Hintertux ski area in Austria is one of the few ski resorts open all year round. the highest lift goes up to 3250m and the summit is 3476m above sea level. Beautiful mountain landscape in that area!
Professional skiers jumping over a gap doing many crazy tricks such as 1080 inversions, flips, grabs, and many combinations. If you’ve played the tony hawk type games on the different consoles, the tricks these professional skiers do in this extreme skiing video are very similar.
The jump is man made at Whistler, in the Rockies. The gap I estimate is about 5m, and the skiers are in the air for a good 3-4 seconds!
Here is a video of an accident at a ski aerial competition in Torino, Italy. As the skier takes off, he loses his skis immediately and does 4 flips before he disappears in the horizon.
Some extremes ski tricks in this ski video are performed at this competition. Huge air including many inverted 1080s. The video starts off with some big crashes and then starts showing some of the best ski tricks performed at the competion. Whister is also a huge mountain, one of the best skiing experiances in the world and the host of the 2010 Olympics.
Out at the top of some mountains with beautiful, clear blue skis, a skier decides to go jump off a cliff. This is no ordinary jump however as he does a back flip while jump off the 100ft high cliff. He executes it perfectly.
