A training run on the Birds of Prey downhill race at Beaver Creek Ski Resort, near Avon Colorado in the Rocky Mountrains, turns tragic for Norwegian alpine skier Aksel Lund Svindal. As the ski racer speeds down the slope, he gets some big air off a lip and somersaults into the protective fencing. The skiing accident is horrible and he ends up in the hospital with career threatening injuries. He recovers  however, and a year later is back to World Cup ski racing getting his first two new victories at the same place he suffered his ski accident, at Beaver Creek, Colorado, USA.

The Birds of Prey downhill ski racing course is a challenging run with up to 45 degree slopes used for World Cup Skiing Super-G, and Super combined races. This run at Beaver Creek, Colorado, has a vertical drop of over 2600 feet This ski racing videos shows Norwegian Aksel Lund Svindal horrible accident during training for such an event. In terms of extreme skiing competitions, the Winter X Games is the best known. For the last 8 years, it’s been held in Aspen Colorado and attracts some of the best extreme skiing and snowboarders from around the world.

In this extreme skiing video, Jon Olsson and Simon Dumont compete for the gold in the finals if the Big Air Skiing competition. Jon Olsson does an inverted 1080 while holding a grab the whole time, he also takes off and lands backwards. The second extreme skier, Simon Dumont does a front flip like it’s nothing on the run up to the big air jump. Off the big air jump, he does another front flip, then, while doing the second front flip, does a Superman. Both jumps are executed flawlessly, and the landings are perfect.

From the many Colorado ski resorts that exist, Aspen is one of the best. This video shows some downhill skiing in the Colorado’s backcountry in some fresh powder. The terrain is pretty open and looks amazing.

This guy drops a beutiful 25 foot cliff in the woods drop in the Tea Cup Bowl in Vail, Colorado. Beutiful weather in the Rockies with lots of deep snow in the glades. Unfortunately not so beautiful a landing.
