A sweet ski video with some original tricks. A guy does a lateral flip off a cliff midway through the video, there are multiple front and back flips, and inversions. It is snowing almost the whole time as is coming in Jackson Hole and the power is so deep you can barely make the skiers out at times. Although this is filmed by amateurs but it is better than many professionally done videos and they ski as well as most professionals.
Jackson Hole is a dream for many extreme skiers and is one of the world’s best and most famous backcountry ski resorts in the world. The backcountry is huge, open to extreme skiers and riders, is full of an obstacles, and has many unique areas. Some of the world’s hardest and most extreme skiing terrain can be found here. It is however located in Wyoming which makes it hard to get to but in turn creates a much more wilderness skiing atmosphere when compared to the resort type ski resorts.
This video was made in the 60s with some retro backcountry skiers skiing in Courchevel, in the French Alps. Warren Miller take us back in time, before the days of avalanche transmitters, they used balloons filled with helium as seen in this video. Some of the skiers in this video are not the best, but it’s still an interested view back.
Watch Yuichiro Mirua as he skis down Mount Everest. He was the first person to do so back in 1975, climbing up to 29 029 feet above sea level and then skiing down 6600 feet of vertical. His skiing is not the best and for some reason he uses a parachute behind him (I guess in case he falls down a cliff), but it’s still amazing to watch. He is one lucky guy with lots of guts to ski down the tallest mountain on Earth. This has to be the most amazing and extreme backcountry that there is on Earth.
A guy does a 720 grab off a jump he built with some friends in the back country. He takes off, everything looks like it’s going well, but everything changes once he touches the ground. He lands and then flips over himself no less than 7 times while staying stiff as a wooden board.
Gotta hurt, next time tuck your head in!
Some crazy Austrians get bored and decide to go up the Timmelsjoch Hochalpenstrasse which is on the border of Austria and Italy. They make a huge jump over the mountain road and then take turns jumping over the road. Sometimes they time is right so that the skier jumps over cars that are going up the road. These guys are nuts.
It just snowed 60 inches in the past couple days and these guys decided to hike up Big Jay. Big Jay is a mountain located near Jay Peak, Vermont. It is accessed by a 1 to 1.5 hour long hike from the peak. It is all backcountry glades out there and lots of pure, outouched, virgin powder.
This guy drops a beutiful 25 foot cliff in the woods drop in the Tea Cup Bowl in Vail, Colorado. Beutiful weather in the Rockies with lots of deep snow in the glades. Unfortunately not so beautiful a landing.
