Here is a video of a crazy ski jumping accident that happened at a World Cup Event in Zakopane, Poland held in January 2007.

There were strong, variable winds causing problems for the ski jumpers. In this ski jumping video, Jav Mazoch, one of the competiors, seems to be doing fine after taking off from the ski ramp.  Then, a fluke air pocket causes him to lose lift and he takes a terrible fall.

He ended up being in a coma and had some brain injuries but has since recovered and has resumed ski jumping.
