Compilation of Alpine Ski Racers Falling and Crashing

Wednesday 26 August 2009 @ 10:41 am

I suggest you mute the music on this skiing video. Apart from the music, the ski crashes in this video are mostly of ski racers but it does include a sweet video clip of a skier skiing down an avalanche between two cliffs. There are some funny and embarrassing ski crashes in this video as well as some that just have to hurt.

Deep Powder Skiing in Alta, Utah

Tuesday 25 August 2009 @ 3:30 pm

60cm (24 inches) of fresh powder makes for some amazing skiing conditions in the extreme skiing video filmed in the backcountry in Alta, Utah. Alta is famous for its backcountry and amazing snow conditions, the extreme skiers in this video know how rare conditions like these are and take full advantage of them. This is close to Salt Lake City, where the 2002 Winter Olympic Games took place.

The ski is blue and the snow is fresh, making for some of the best filming conditions. The skiers in this ski video don’t do anything crazy or any cliffs, but they have near perfect form and there is a bit of glade skiing too!

Extremely Steep Skiing in Noway

Monday 24 August 2009 @ 4:09 pm

Some beautiful backcountry ski footage in Hurrungane, Norway. These guys ski down the craziest steep I’ve seen. It’s a sheet of snow over some rocks at a slop that is probably over 75 degrees! These guys show us what ski touring is all about.

This extreme skiing video is filmed in the three valleys area in Norway. The valleys are: Skagadalen, Riingsdalen, and Styggedalen.

Extreme Skiing in Roldal Norway: Falling Off a cliff

Saturday 22 August 2009 @ 10:43 am

A sweet extreme skiing video filmed in Norway near Roldal. The skier is very good and the ski video starts off with some beautifully executed turns in fresh, virgin powder. Near the end of the video however, the skier does a mistake and stops atop of an unseen cliff, some 15m high and falls off. He seems ok at the end but is still injured. Should serve as a warning to always be on the lookout for cliffs when off piste and out in the backcountry.

The video is very well filmed and shows some amazing Norwegian landscapes in the mountains. Norway isn’t the first place people think about when extreme skiing comes to mind, but the terrain in the video is awesome.

Skier Triggers Avalanche

Friday 14 August 2009 @ 3:23 pm

This skiing video starts with some nice shots of people skiing in the glades. A skier then skis down a clearing between some trees in the backcountry and then you can see an avalanche starting. The skier then falls and the avalanche becomes huge. Pretty scary stuff, doesn’t even look like avalanche prone terrain.

This extreme skiing video was filmed by National Geographic.

Wednesday 12 August 2009 @ 12:59 pm

Here is a video of an accident at a ski aerial competition in Torino, Italy. As the skier takes off, he loses his skis immediately and does 4 flips before he disappears in the horizon.

Sweetgrass Productions in Japan’s Backcountry

Tuesday 11 August 2009 @ 8:04 am

This ski video is filmed in Hokkaido Japan in some insanely deep and fresh powder.

The filming is top notch with beautiful lighting and amazing camera angles of people skiing, snowboarding, and telemarking in the Japanese backcountry. The skiers do all sorts of tricks including flips and inversions in the glades as well as above the treeline.

Never thought the skiing in Japan was so good!

Mad River Glen: Skiing in the Woods

Monday 10 August 2009 @ 12:28 pm

Here is a skiing video of some guy skiing through the glades at Mad River Glen in Vermont. Mad River Glen is one of my favorite resorts and it’s in Vermont. It is a backcountry skier’s heaven as it has plenty of snow and some of the most unforgiving terrain possible all with a “ski it if you can” policy. This ski video is a bit short but the skiing is solid and shows some of the terrain available out there.
